Biosafety Engineering

Course modified date: 17 Oct 2025

The Biosafety Engineering course equips postgraduate students with the principles and practices needed to manage biological risks safely in laboratories, industries, and research environments. It covers biosafety levels (BSL-1 to BSL-4), hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.

Students explore engineering controls, facility design, decontamination technologies, and essential laboratory protocols including waste management and emergency response. The course also examines national and international regulatory frameworks, compliance procedures, ethics, and leadership in biothreat situations.

Through lectures, case studies, interactive videos, and assignments, students gain practical and critical-thinking skills to design and evaluate safe, sustainable biosafety systems.
